BUZZon 1.4

Coming soon the new 1.4 build. Includes new “Quickload option” which only downloads 7 days of events rather than the 1 month / 600 item limit in the current build ( though this won’t be enabled by default ). The article loading and parsing is also now deferred until you click on the “Articles” tab.

Full support for iPhone 4, including retina display and automatic updates when minimized.

Map screen now allow you to view in full screen when you rotate you device.

BUZZon 1.3 upgrade in store.

Sorry about that, but enjoy the new map icons and the correct article display …

BUZZon 1.3 – whoops

Ok, so we have a small non-fatal bug in the 1.2 code which causes certain article content to appear twice. I own up, it was my fault. It was a long day, coffee was low and it was hot ( so very very hot ) and it was also my fault for testing on long articles rather than short 1 paragraph ones.

Anyway, there is a 1.3 build with the fix coming. As a bonus, and so your hard earned downloading time is not totally wasted, I’ve also updated the map screen with more detailed icons ( screen shots to follow ), some tidy up of buttons and colors and it’s also tested on OS4.1 ( which I’m not allowed to talk about … thanks Apple ).

BUZZon 1.2 in for approval

So 1.2 is in the store pending approval. Started out as an optimization test, but just kept on growing.

Some new features in 1.2:

You can now add events into your iPhones calendar ( and then sync them back to your desktop or where-ever ).  This does require OS4 on  your device. The event API was only make public with OS4.  If you are running OS3.x the button will not show up.

To add the event to the default calendar:

The new "My Locations" button .. wooo

From the event detail screen touch the “paper fold” icon, and from there you can add to calendar, add the event location to “My Locations”, and bookmark the town ( this button used to be on the toolbar on the detail screen )  “My Locations” allows you  to list events only by your favourite locations / bars etc. You can edit these from the options screen.

The Map screen now has a “Find Me” button to center the map on your GPS location ( if enabled ). You will find that pressing more that once will tend to increase the accuracy as the GPS locks in.

There are some performance upgrades too, however, you won’t really notice them much on the older 3G phones running OS4 ( it actually makes it as fast as the old app running on OS3 … OS4 really kills performance .. gah ). Indexing is now deferred for the most part, and the data file sizes are down about 50% ( not that  you really have to worry about data charges anyway ). Delaying the article download / parsing is on the TODO list.
