BUZZon September

BUZZon September

NeonTrail screenshots

Ahh, I have a soft spot for this game … all about the math and contains lots of PI ( hmmmm, PI ). Again, source code lost ( damn backups ) …

This was the 4 hour application. Started as an openGL spike that was ok enough for the store based on some of the NeonBall code ( ahh, the Neon phase of my career ). Unfortunately will probably die soon as the source code was lost thanks to the cleaners sticky fingers and unlocked Mac.

Still a work in progress, was initally a 2 day build to test some AI out, but in the end will probably release as a no-frills 2 player game.  Based on the old “dots on graph paper” game we used to play as kids ( well I did, hate to speak for the rest of you on that one )

BUZZon 1.2 in for approval

So 1.2 is in the store pending approval. Started out as an optimization test, but just kept on growing.

Some new features in 1.2:

You can now add events into your iPhones calendar ( and then sync them back to your desktop or where-ever ).  This does require OS4 on  your device. The event API was only make public with OS4.  If you are running OS3.x the button will not show up.

To add the event to the default calendar:

The new "My Locations" button .. wooo

From the event detail screen touch the “paper fold” icon, and from there you can add to calendar, add the event location to “My Locations”, and bookmark the town ( this button used to be on the toolbar on the detail screen )  “My Locations” allows you  to list events only by your favourite locations / bars etc. You can edit these from the options screen.

The Map screen now has a “Find Me” button to center the map on your GPS location ( if enabled ). You will find that pressing more that once will tend to increase the accuracy as the GPS locks in.

There are some performance upgrades too, however, you won’t really notice them much on the older 3G phones running OS4 ( it actually makes it as fast as the old app running on OS3 … OS4 really kills performance .. gah ). Indexing is now deferred for the most part, and the data file sizes are down about 50% ( not that  you really have to worry about data charges anyway ). Delaying the article download / parsing is on the TODO list.
